FOUR DAY KRUGER PARK SAFARI with 2 nights free in Johannesburg
DAY ONE :
We depart from Mufasa Backpackers in Johannesburg where you
will have two nights free accommodation. The night before the tour as well as
the night after the tour, the last night is optional you can choose between
Mufasa Backpackers or spend the night full of culture and tradition with a
family in the local township.
Your day starts at about 7:30, with a light continental
breakfast, afterwards you will have some time to check your emails and just relax.
We depart between 9:30 am and 10:30 am for the Kruger Park safari.
We drive all the way up to Dullstroom where we will stop for
lunch and some time to stretch our legs. (Lunch at own cost).
From Dullstroom we take the Abel Erasmus Pass, for some
amazing scenery and photo opportunities.
The road takes us to a big 5 game reserve where we will go
on a guided night drive to see some of the nocturnal animals which inhabits
this area.
After the game drive we drive to Mufasa Bush Lodge, where we
will have dinner and then head off to our rooms. For those who would like a
swim, play some pool or have a drink the facilities will be available and our
guide will brief you on where NOT to go after dark. This is important seeing
that there are 3 of the big 5 on the premises.
All rooms at Mufasa Bush Lodge are en suite units,
including all linen and towels, this is not a Backpackers, you will have a room
to yourself or share with your travel companion.
DAY TWO :
Our second day starts in full safari style with a hearty
breakfast of bacon, eggs, toast, yogurt, fresh fruits, cereal, coffee and tea.
From here we depart on a full dayKruger Park safari, where we will try
to spot the big 5 and some of the other amazing wild life and birds which
Kruger has to offer.
After a day filled with adventure and nature we head back to
Mufasa Bush Lodge where we gather around the camp fire in the boma. While
relaxing and talking about your day we will prepare one of South Africa’s most
famous traditional meals (Potjie). This is cooked on the open fire in a cast
iron pot, filled with meat, sauce and fresh vegetables served with rice and
green salad. After dinner and a night cap or some coffee we part ways and rest
for the night as the next day we will have an early start.
DAY THREE
Starting our day at 7:00 am we will have a continental
breakfast which consist of cereals, toast, butter, jam, coffee and tea. After
breakfast we leave Mufasa Bush Lodge and travel to Moholoholo Wild Life Rehabilitation Centre, where one of
their friendly guides will tell us how we can make a difference in how to save
the wild life. We meet the animals, feed the vultures, play with the rhino
and interact with a cheetah.
From Moholoholo Wild Life Rehabilitation Centre we take a
scenic drive up to the Amarula factory, where they tell us the basics of how Amurula
is made and we taste the truly South African drink. You also get a chance to
buy it at the factory.
We then drive up to Phalaborwa where we have lunch at the
Buffalo Pub and Grill.
After lunch we travel to the Olifants river. From there we
get on a boat and do the Olifants River boat cruise safari, we relax on the
boat while we watch the elephants, the crocodiles, water bucks,
giraffes and other animals.
We pass the families of hippos in the river and hear the roaring sound of the water,
as we cruise.
After a wonderful revitalizing cruise and beautiful sunset
we have dinner on the jetty right next to the river while looking at the hippos
with the spotlights on. After dinner we return to Mufasa Bush Lodge.
Optional: if you are four guests we can sleep on the boat,
have dinner and do a night cruise,
DAY FOUR :
(if you sleep on the boat we will have breakfast here and head to the panorama route (no game walk in the morning)
Early morning game walk with a guide, the guide will attempt to get close to the animals that lives here, that includes buffalo,leopard and rhinos plus lots of smaller game like nyala, impala, duiker and more. Having done this we board our airconditioned vehicle and head for the three rondawels on the panorama route (third biggest canyon in the world, 26 km long and 762 m deep this canyon is second to the Fish River Canyon in Namibia and third to the Grand Canyon in the USA.) After we have seen Mariepskop and his three wifes we get back in our vehicle and head for Joburg, lunch in Dullstroom at own expense.

This tour leaves from Johannesburg on a daily basis, the accommodation is provided in en suite units with either two beds, a double bed or 4 beds in a room.The lodge itself has a swimming pool, lapa, kitchen and entetainment area. 3 of the big 5 is on the premises (buffalo, leopard and rhino) and a selection of smaller game. When you book this tour you will recieve two nights free accommodation at Mufasa Backpackers in Johannesburg or one night spending time with a family in a local township and one night at Mufasa Backpackers.
The safari to Kruger park departs from Mufasa around 10 in the morning, the drive is about 6 hours to the game reserve where you will go on a night drive, you will stop in Dullstroom for lunch at own expence. Arrive at the big five game reserve at around 4 and board your open vehicle for an exciting night drive around 5. Your guide will try to find the big five on the premises. When you are finished here you will be transfered to the lodge where dinner will be served beneath the stars.
Following morning full day in the Kruger park depart the lodge at about 8 for Kruger and return just after the gate at Orpen has closed. Dinner around the campfire.
The next day you will depart for the Moholoholo Wildlife Rehabilitation Center for a full tour lasting between 2 and 3 hours, this is followed by the amarula factory and the boat safaris on the Olifants river. (Overnight on the river on a boat all inclusive if there is 4 people).
Last day you will have a morning game walk (if you dont sleep on the boat) before you board the vehicle and head via the three rondawels towards Johannesburg.
