Meals: All

Meals: All

We will pass through the Chirundu Border (sometimes a time consuming process) and re-enter Zimbabwe. From Chirundu it is not a long trip to Chinhoyi. Probably best known for cave diving, the Chinhoyi caves system is the largest publicly accessible cave system in Zimbabwe and reputably a ‘mysterious’ area.

Meals: All

Overnight: Chinhoyi Caves

Day 14 Harare and Chimanimani National Park

After visiting the caves it is a short drive from Chinhoyi to Harare, the capital city of Zimbabwe, where we will stop for some shopping, lunch and exploration. Although Harare has not had a lot of positive press in the last 10 years, many will be surprised at just how safe and accessible this small, modern capital is. After lunch we will be travelling to the Eastern Highlands and the Chimanimani National Park. The Mountain range that separates Zimbabwe and Mozambique is the site of some simply spectacular hiking and scenery and with time permitting we will take a short walk to the well-known Bridal Veil Falls in the late afternoon.

Meals: Breakfast, Dinner

Overnight: Chimanimani NP Camp: www.zimparks.com/html/chimanimani.html

Day 15 Chirinda Forest

It is possible to spend another full day hiking in the Chimanimani, or take a day trip to Zimbabwe’s only rain forest on the Mozambique Border. Chirinda is the southernmost rain forest in Africa and home to some spectacular large mahogany trees. A short hike to ‘the big tree’ is a lovely outing and a fantastic spot for a picnic lunch.

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Overnight: Chimanimani NP Camp: www.zimparks.com/html/chimanimani.html

Day 16 Great Zimbabwe Ruins

No visit to Zimbabwe could possibly be complete without visiting the world-famous Great Zimbabwe ruins. Dating from around the 11th century these iron-age ruins have been the source of much speculation and disagreement over the years. Built without any mortar some of the walls are up to 5 metres high and still standing after so many centuries. This site was also home to 8 carved Zimbabwe birds, the image of which is found on the Zimbabwean National Flag.

Meals: All

Overnight: Masvingo:

Day 17 /18 Matobo – Matopos National Park

It is a long drive to reach Greater Matopos NP area. The next day we enjoy a full day Game drive with a local operator into the Greater Matopos NP area. We head towards the Matobo Hills where we view the Bushman Paintings, rock formations and scenery in the National Park. We briefly leave the National Park pay a visit to the African Villages where we have the opportunity to meet the local community. We re-enter the Game Park section of the National Park, where we track Rhino on foot with our guides, as well as looking for other game.

Meals: All

Overnight: Big Cave Camp:

Day 19 South Africa – Bulawayo to Messina

After a short visit to the Bulawayo Historical Museum we start the drive back to South Africa. We cross the border at Buitbridge, which can sometimes take a long time, and return to South Africa where we will camp at the border town of Messina.

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Overnight: Tshipise Aventura Camp: www.forevertshipise.co.za

Day 20 Johannesburg

Today we leave early for the journey south along the Great North Road for our final destination in Johannesburg, the City of Gold. We will gradually move up from the Bushveld and Baobabs of the Limpopo Province through citrus and maize fields to the heavily populated and industrialised Highveld and Gauteng Province, the powerhouse of Africa. We will travel through Pretoria, one of South Africa’s capital cities, before arriving in Johannesburg in the late afternoon. Although this final night is not included in the tour most people choose to get together for a final meal out at one of Johannesburg’s many excellent restaurants.

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch

If you book this tour now you will get 2 free nights accommodation at Mufasa Backpackers were the tour will depart from as well as a free airport pickup and a free Apartheid’s Museum tour

The mighty Zambezi flows broad and placid to the brink of a 1700m wide basalt lip before taking a headlong 100 metre plunge into the thunderous, frothy chasm of the gorge below. This is the world’s largest sheet of falling water.

Serengeti national park which covers 14,763 sq km, is flourishing with magnificent wildlife. It lies between the shores of Lake Victoria in the west, Lake Eyasi in the South, and the Great Rift Valley to the east. As such, it offers the most complex and least disturbed ecosystem on earth.
The park features endless rolling plains, and is contiguous with Masai Mara National Park in Kenya. Serengeti is known as one of the best wildlife sanctuary in the world and an estimated 3 million large animals roam the plains. On it its vast, treeless plains are tens of thousands of hoofed animals, constantly on the move in search of fresh grassland.
One of the Serengeti’s main attractions is the annual migration of wildebeest herds in search for better grazing. Every October and November, more than a million wildebeest and about 220,000 Zebras travel south from the northern hills to the southern plains for the tropical rains, and then journey west and north after the long rains in April to June.

Just phone her UK number direct without any codes. Otherwise it won’t work. It will cost a lot but unless she can get to a South African line its the only way to call her.

Is AntaGolin prescription-free in South Africa?

It is supposed to be a good med to help lose weight.

AntaGolin is a newly developed product that works by helping insulin with its gate-keeping duty. By doing some of insulin’s work, less insulin is required and therefore released, resulting in lower blood insulin levels. Less insulin also means that less fat gets produced and stored. Even better, more fat gets burnt for energy purposes because the release of fat from the fat cells is no longer inhibited to the same degree, helping you lose weight. AntaGolin also offers an excellent opportunity to adopt a loophole or damage control strategy for the times that you do overeat on energy rich carbohydrates, including alcohol. This will allow you to maintain your weight over special occasions like a December holiday without unravelling all your hard work.
Emjay, this is not hoodia or any other plant muti. This is a medicine, not mumbo-jumbo. Don´t worry, I do not want to go and try all wierd things. I do not need to lose weight. Just wondering, whether it was available at a chemist without a prescription.

Monkey business for insurance claims, not just in South Africa?

One thing you don’t expect when you go on holiday is to be harassed by a monkey. One British traveller in Gibraltar, however, was so besieged by the attentions of an over-friendly primate that he asked his insurer to refund the cost of his trip. The insurer refused but did pay out for his camera, which the monkey had run off with one evening.

Monkeys also blighted the romantic getaway of a couple in Malaysia, who foolishly left the window to their chalet open during the day. They returned to find their underwear, clothing and belongings strewn across the resort and neighbouring rainforest. Luckily for the clothes-less couple, their insurer paid the claim.

Juan answers:

Ive learnt several valuable lessons about holidaying with animals, like whenever you leave your bungalow/chalet whatever: CLOSE YOUR WINDOWS! Thats common sense really.

Once, my family went out for a game drive, when we returned my elder sister really needed the loo, so she dashed inside to relieve herself ASAP. But someone forgot to close the windows and a sneaky monkey found its way in. Yes. In the bathroom. Good thing she was already on the loo…

Still in the bush, i was recieving one of my first driving lessons (in a landie on dirt roads; thats how everyone should learn) when we noticed a large rain spider that was building its web across the road; but i carry on going forward, only for the canopy bar to snag the web and swing this nasty spider towards my (screaming) ma and sis. I had no idea why they were screaming, but it was pretty funny.

But that was nothing compared to my uncle and his prawns…
Thanks for the q!

Dieting is so simple – people make it too complicated, seriously. It also shouldn’t be something that you do just before swimsuit season, it should be year round.

I just cut down on everything by about 1/3. Simple.

No points, no weird dietary restrictions, no imbalances. I don’t stop eating anything, I don’t with-hold any foods (aside from soft drinks, but that’s an obvious one, NO ONE should be drinking them anyway), and just cut down on portions.

I used to diet periodically for an upcoming season or event, but that was tiresome, unhealthy, and just not the best way to control weight.

I learned (after many years of doing it wrong) that what I needed was a lifestyle I could live with, not to diet every time I let the pounds pack on.

I now try to eat reasonably all the time. Sure I splurge now and then, but overall I keep my calories at a decent level and eat fairly healthy foods (lean protein, fruits and veggies, brown carbs).

I exercise all the time…12 months a year. I shoot for 6 days a week, 2x a day, but at least 5 days a week is acceptable and if I can’t get in 2 workouts each day, 1 is okay. The 2 workouts are basically to get off these last 10 lbs that crept up on me last year and haven’t left yet. To maintain my weight, working out 1x a day should suffice.

Juan answers:

To me Youth Day is rather special, I missed out on a celebration with peers since I was home bound doing laundry, but I was there with them in spirit. We adorn school uniform in rememberence of the youth of then and thank them for having given us the opportunity to be and do what we want in this day and age. Also, it inspires me to want to want to better my life as I have better opportunities than they did. A friend who hosted the whole occasion said something about being able to launch a career he wouldnt have dreamt of back in that era and is thankful he has the opportunity now. To some it means jack schitt and its rather saddening to have youth party a storm and booze with no idea as to why that day is a holiday. Many youths were however involved in certain projects (as I saw on TV), this included kids from all races. One included youths across all races who wanted opportunities to be for all youth and to not be left out, which i totally agree with. Its about high time projects like Umsobomvu recognise the will of any youth and not just black youths to do something with their lifes when starting businesses and such. I think we also need to find a way to voice our concerns about current government as youth as they are the biggest threat at the moment to our very livelihood. If anything, someone should organise a march (besides the millon man one) involving youths to hold talks with governemnt officilas and tell them just what is they think about them. It would be nice to have a few teens tell the Manto’s of the world how kaak they are at their job. Like the oung school boy who once said: “why does a little kid have to wait months to get a liver whilst Manto drinks hers away and gets a liver within a month?”

Think about visa’s, travel insurance and transport when deciding where to go, these things may add quite a bit of expense to your budget, also you will need a return ticket so work out your itinerary carefully flying into and out of the same airport will be a lower cost then fling into one place and out of another.
Good luck

Call the airline and ask them – it is the only way to know. You can find out what will happen without actually canceling the ticket.

For discounted tickets, you usually do not get a refund. You usually will received a partial credit of the cost of the ticket towards the purchase of another ticket within the next year. They will deduct a fee from the original cost, and only credit the remainder.

Try Tenerife, just of the African coast, no matter what kind of holiday you are looking for you will find it here, if you like the sun, beaches and night life that’s fine, but if you want the mountains for walking, climbing or just looking and exploring the scenery then that’s here as well, all comes with all year round sun.

The link below is a good source of information.

I’m a South African and live in Korea. I know the movie.

There is a way you can find this dvd. Just go to your local music store and ask them to order it for you. I have done this a couple of times in both South Africa and Korea.

Music stores usually sell dvd’s as well, but if they don’t you can try video shops. It will cost a little more.

And you should also ask for this dvd by the other name it goes by. Some stores overseas may have it under another name.
The story is also known as “The Rose of Versailles”.

Check this out…

And you can download the game from…

Where in Europe would you recommend we go for December holiday?

We live in South Africa, so it needs to be affordable. Not big on shopping, would rather experience culture and see sights.

For somewhere different try Cyprus It certainly is big on both sights and culture. The Paphos are is better for a winter break. As you are avoiding the high season a few facilities like the water parks will be closed. Most Cypriots have a good knowledge of english. Car hire is very reasonable and the island is small enough that just about anywhere can be reached in 3 hours.

Being winter it will not be particularly warn and maybe a 10% chance of rain.

I am not aware of any direct flights from SA so I suspect you will need to travel via Athens.
