The boat have to drive through the surf, lot of fun speed and bounching. You also have spotter that is situated on a seat suspended on top of the boat, it is his job to spot the whales dolphins and mantas. Once spotted they will position the boat in such a manner that the whale swim towards the boat. When in position the skipper will give the order for you to jump, jump and swim with the whale shark a very good and unique experiene. The whole safari last for about 3 hours. Baobab Beach backpackers is a well equiped lodge with all the details you would like, nice food, good vibes, a bit noisy at night but one of the better choices of accomodation in this area. Its right on the beach with Baobab trees that grows naturally in this area of Mozambique. The camp site has nice green grass, hot showers and communual ablution blocks. Dorms and private cabins availible if you decide to upgrade from camping.Spen a nice evening here before we set of on the adbenture of a lifetime
Day 6 and 7
Breakfast Included, but we have to be at the departure point for the Dhow Safari at 8h30. Now this is an experience of a lifetime. The boat itself is a wooden Dhow with traditional sail, three crew and an outboard motor. Food is beeing prepared on the boat, fish is beeing caught while we are on the boat for lunch and dinner. The journey to our first stop the Island of margrique is about 2 hours 40 mins were we will stop on the beach to have lunch. Snorkeling here is fantastick, what you do is you take your gear and walk about 10 min up the beach, here you put on your fins and mask and drift down towards the boat with the current. Yelly fish, clown fish, puffer fish, trumpet fish, goat fish and a veriaty of other small creatures to be seen, one of the better snorkeling expeditions that I have done, But 2 mile reef is better, but that is only tomorrow. After lunch and snorkeling we head towards our camp for the night. Nestled on a secluded beach the camp makes an exelent overnight stop. The tents are pre erected with matresses and sleeping bags. Dinner is beeing provided and coffee and tea is always there. You have to bring your own drinks, there is no bar on the island and you would have to supply your own water and drinks.
The following morning after breakfast we head for the Bazaruto Islands and two mile reef. The swimming is exelent, the reef is about 2 m deep and loads if parrot fish, puffers and sea irchins to be seen, maybe you would be lucky and spot some of the nudi banks too. Lunch on the island, climb the dune, final swim and head back to Bamboozi beach were we have dinner and spent the nights in tents.
